Italian insurtech Mama Insurance has
secured a new investment led by Fastweb+Vodafone, with support from Founders Factory. The deal follows an initial investment in 2025 and brings the
company’s total funding to more than €2 million across equity, non-dilutive
public funding and debt. The financing comprises equity from Fastweb+Vodafone,
Founders Factory and Vento, funding awarded through national and regional
public programmes, and bank debt.
The investment also extends Mama
Insurance’s existing collaboration with Fastweb+Vodafone, focused on research
and development, AI capabilities and digital customer experiences.
Mama Insurance is developing an
AI-native digital insurance platform aimed at simplifying how consumers find
and purchase insurance. The company’s initial focus is home insurance,
targeting an Italian market where more than half of households are estimated to
have no home insurance despite exposure to risks including fire, flooding and
theft.
The platform uses automation and AI to
personalise the customer experience and allows users to receive quotes and
purchase modular insurance policies entirely online. Mama Insurance says the
process can be completed in under two minutes, with policies presented in plain
Italian. Underwriting is provided by global insurance group Chubb.
The company distributes its products
through its direct digital platform, a network of agents and brokers, and
embedded partnerships with consumer brands. It is also developing AI-based
distribution capabilities designed to change how customers discover and
purchase insurance products.
Home insurance is where we start, but
our ambition is to build the platform that protects Italians across every
dimension of life and business: from the home to pets, from the family to
health, all the way to the use of AI in their own business,
said Leonida Fini Zarri, founder and CEO of Mama Insurance.
With the new capital, Mama Insurance
plans to expand into additional personal insurance lines and develop products
for Italian SMEs. Its longer-term aim is to offer digital and modular insurance
products across a wider range of personal and business needs, working with
different underwriters depending on the insurance line.
