Attaullah Tarar, a PML-N senior leader and former Minister of State, recently made claims that India was planning a military strike against Pakistan within 36 hours, which could significantly exacerbate tensions across South Asia. He warned this development could become dangerously escalated.
Tarar addressed media outside Parliament on Tuesday and made alarming claims regarding Indian intelligence reports indicating preparations for imminent and aggressive action from Indian forces. India is hostile towards Pakistan and credible sources confirm a possible limited strike across the LoC in 36 hours, said Tarar.
Tarar made clear that Pakistan’s military is on high alert and ready to respond swiftly and decisively should any attempt by India at violating Pakistan’s sovereignty. According to him, all levels of government and military are united and will take appropriate actions if there is any sign of misbehavior from their side.
This statement comes during a period of increased tensions between nuclear-armed neighbors. Pakistan issued its own formal warning based on similar intelligence reports accusing India of fomenting regional instability.
Even without official confirmation or response from India concerning strike allegations, analysts believe the situation remains volatile. Recent aerial movements and troop mobilizations along the LoC have been widely reported by local and international media, adding to public anxiety on both sides.
Tarar called upon international powers and the UN to take swift action in de-escalating this growing crisis, warning India is playing with fire: it must act soon or else consequences could worsen rapidly. “India is playing with fire; now is the time for intervention from international society before it’s too late”, he advised.
Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) is holding meetings in Islamabad to evaluate its security environment. Government sources indicate that strategic assets are being monitored while defensive deployments have begun in sensitive regions.
Social media in Pakistan has seen an upsurge of patriotic posts and shows of support for the military, while citizens living near border areas have expressed worry over possible hostilities.
As regional diplomacy remains in limbo, observers warn that any unilateral military action taken could escalate to wider war and urge both nations to return to dialogue and restraint.
